Horse In Stable

Give Horses a Second Chance at Home

Adopting a horse is more than ownership—it’s a commitment to care, patience, and partnership. At Spirit Walker Ranch, we focus on thoughtful, responsible placements that support both the horse and the human.

Our Adoption Philosophy

We believe every horse deserves a safe, stable, and understanding home—and every adopter deserves the guidance and support to make that possible.

Our adoption process is designed to ensure the right match, not just a quick placement. We take time to understand both the horse and the adopter so that each transition is grounded, intentional, and set up for long-term success.

Step 1 — Application

Submit an adoption application so we can learn about your experience, environment, and what you’re looking for.

Step 2 — Conversation

We’ll connect with you to talk through your goals, expectations, and what kind of horse may be the best fit.

Step 3 — Meet & Match

When possible, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the horse and spend time together to ensure alignment.

Step 4 — Approval & Agreement

If it’s a good match, we’ll move forward with an adoption agreement outlining care expectations and responsibilities.

Step 5 — Transition & Support

We help guide the transition and remain available for post-adoption support to ensure both you and the horse feel confident moving forward.

FINDING THE RIGHT FIT

Is Adoption Right for You?

To ensure the safety and well-being of our horses, adopters should be prepared to provide:

  • A safe, appropriate living environment

  • Consistent access to food, water, and shelter

  • Routine veterinary and farrier care

  • Time, patience, and a willingness to build trust

  • Previous horse experience or a willingness to learn with guidance

This isn’t about perfection—it’s about commitment and responsibility.

OUR COMMITMENT

What Our Horses Need

Many of the horses that come through Spirit Walker Ranch have experienced neglect, inconsistency, or uncertainty.

Because of this, they may need:

  • Time to adjust to new environments

  • Gentle handling and consistent routines

  • Continued emotional and physical rehabilitation

We’re here to support both the horse and adopter through that process.

Support Beyond Adoption

Post-Adoption Support

Support Beyond Adoption

Our relationship doesn’t end once a horse is adopted.

We offer continued guidance, check-ins, and support to help ensure a successful transition. If challenges arise, we’re here to help you navigate them with care and clarity.

In some cases, if a placement is no longer the right fit, we ask that the horse be returned to Spirit Walker Ranch rather than rehomed elsewhere.
